Re: HMS Agamemnon

Beautiful workmanship! You're ship inspires admiration, your workshop inspires envy!

Well done.

Re: USS Olympia, Protected Cruiser

Mark -

I've enjoyed your build very much and you've inspired me to step into the same ring... Santa Claus made room for an extra present in his sleigh - I now have my own Premium Edition of the Olympia to add to my stash.

Happy holidays and happy modeling in the coming year!

Re: USS Olympia, Protected Cruiser

I built this kit in my youth and am looking forward to giving it another go in the near future... I too am hoping to actually FINISH a build before starting another... Old Ironsides beckons...

Thanks for sharing your progress!

Re: USS Olympia, Protected Cruiser

I, too, am a fan of this model... The actual ship still exists (barely) and stewardship is being transferred to a new entity. I think they've narrowed it down to two associations - one of which wantsto move her to San Francisco (where she was built) and another that wants to permanently dry dock her...

Re: Starting the hull

Well Done! Very nice effort to include an important feature of the bow...

Amazing how such a famous ship has no kit that really accurately depicts her...

Sigh.

Re: Black Pearl Finished (Pics)

The very best Black Pearl I've seen out on ANY forum!

Wonderful and skillful seascape!

I think I'll join the scalawag on the bow and hoist a bottle in your honor!

Re: Building the Black Pearl

Looks fabulous Phil!!!

Perhaps a bit of high gloss clear along the hull near the water to impart a "wet" look?

I freely admit, however, that I am NOT a diorama-ist - but I very much admire folks like yourself who are!

Re: WASP LHD-1, The Build

Hello Phil... The jaw drops when viewing your incredible Wasp... You've become a PE master to be sure and your weathering looks to be the right balance - sometimes that gets overdone all too often. The USS United States will be a challenge - certainly a more understated railing will be in order. I'm...

That looks like a very nice ride - I hope you allow your hero son a chance to drive it as a reward for a job well done and thanks for his service from a grateful nation x4x

Re: USS Wasp Kit Initial Impressions

Phil... Very nice overview! It would be neat to display one of the AAV-7A1 Amphibious Assault Vehicles in motion as well... Here is a good link I found awhile back when I was strongly considering this kit for my stash: http://www.ipmsusa2.org/reviews2/ships/kits/gallery_350_lhd1-wasp/gallery_350_lhd...

Ahoy Railroad Fanatics

For all of you RR aficionados... My external hard drive crashed a bit back and of course all my photos were on it... After a few heart palpitations and some cash outlay I managed to recover everything (whew!)... In the process of re-indexing the photos (and making backups) I discovered a few shots f...
