Re: Mantua kit 776 - 1:96/(98?)

Chris,
Had been away from the forum since October 20th because of travel and such. Was delighted when I came back to find you posting your notes and photos from this build. A real joy to read - I'm anxious to see the continuation.

Re: Ahoy Railroad Fanatics

Pete,
Was your post a test? The Y-6s were Norfolk & Western locomotives, of "Chesapeake" arrangement (2-8-8-2). The B&O did have some "Yellowstones" (2-8-8-4) - their class EM-1. C&O's H-8s were "Allegheny" arrangements (2-6-6-6).

Re: Ahoy Railroad Fanatics

Evan,
Thanks for post. Great pictures. I've seen some pictures of the museum before, with a heavy focus on the cab forward, but you really got some nice shots.

Re: The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad:

Pete, The few articles I've read seem to indicate most of the structure will need to be replaced, but they're all a few months old. Enjoyed your comments about footboard rides. I'll try to make some time during the next week to get some of my Cass pictures posted. Work's been keeping me pretty busy,...

Re: The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad:

Pete, After the fire in June, they managed to get back into operation pretty quickly by doing a bus link between the two separated sections of railroad. http://pagosasprings.com/the-cumbres-and-toltec-scenic-railroad-in-chama-nm-resumes-schedule/ Another article I spotted references fundraising for ...

Re: Building the Hull

Chris, From my perspective, the build continues to go exceptionally well. Your post and Maurice's comments help illustrate the importance of advance planning. Fixing bulkhead interference with cannon locations would have been a nightmare later in the build. Even working with a plastic kit needs plan...

Re: What decision or indecision I am facing . . .

Chris, Maurice knew what I meant to say and clarified my idea (thank you, Maurice). I meant application in whole sheets (of card stock) printed with the deck planking, not cut into individual sheets. His attached photos could be a starting point for a copy/paste exercise to be able to print up full ...

Re: What decision or indecision I am facing . . .

Chris, Have you given any thought to using printed card stock for your decking? Using computer software, you should be able to build up a montage of deck planking and can readily scale it on a printer. It also offers the advantage of being able to manipulate the color to your liking. Print onto heav...

Re: Victory is in the offing . . . .

Chris,
The impact of moving/buying/selling homes can be trying. 20 years of naval service had me moving around a good bit. Glad you'll be able to start back at it - that's why I got started back while waiting the last half year or so until I can break ground on the RR.

Re: Cockpit

Thanks to both Pete and Bondoman for the explanations. Pete, I neglected to compliment you on the exquisite work so far on your Mosquito. As you can tell, I'm still working my way through a lot of site history, posting as the spirit moves me. BTW, I looked through your railroad section too. When I g...

Re: Cockpit

Pete, I have taken a break from catching up on back HMS Victory posts (still working through Rob's fantastic build diary entries) and went through your Mosquito build section Back in your May 19th post you have a canopy picture with mention of a Klear/Future process. I suspect it's some treatment wi...
