Re: Caldercraft Victory By Bob

Making good progress Bob, the stern is looking very clean and tidy. The Quarter galleries look to have a decent external curve, so many kit versions seem to be wedge shaped which imo detracts from the look of a model.

Re: HMS Victory Devonport Auckland

An impressive Victory Mike, first time I've seen an example of worming a line, except on anchor cables.

I have taken the liberty of moving your post to this section, don't want your excellent photo's being lost in the intro section.

Re: HMS Agamemnon

A wonderful result Hartmut, and what a splendid showcase for the Caldercraft kit.

It has been a pleasure to see her evolve over the past 30 months. XCLAPX

Re: The Eye Bolts around the Mizzen Mast

Hi Lawrence, does your kit have the pin rail around the Mizen mast, if not just wondering if they are making up for the absence by extra eyebolts around the foot. I can't imagine what 15 eyebolts around the Mizen would be for.

Re: Caldercraft Victory By Bob

I once thought about testing those thin coloured preservers you use on sheds etc; such as Cuprinol garden shades, they did one in a sort of greyish colour Silver Birch I seem to recall that would pass for weathered oak, but I never got around to it in the end.

Re: Caldercraft Victory By Bob

The trial looks good Bob but I'm wondering how the deck colour will look on the actual ship, decking varied in colour depending on the light conditions but the overall effect tended towards a lighter colour.

Just a thought.

Re: Caldercraft Victory By Bob

Interesting info about the black styrene Bob, I didn't know it was available.

What was the deck planking wood provided in the kit, was that maple you refer to ?

Re: Caldercraft Victory By Bob

Need to be careful with Lime Bob, it is soft and marks easily not a wood one considers naturally for decking material.

The styrene caulking looks good - does it come already coloured in black sheets?

Re: HMS Agamemnon

More impressive photos of your wonderful build always a pleasure to see Hartmut. One question, the seizing of the sheet block on the driver looks a little awkward with the gap between the two ends of the strop. Might look better with a shorter strop secured with a 'false' splice with the seizing ap...
