Sling Your Hook!

Post by Pete Coleman » Sat Jan 28, 2012 9:38 am

I have been putting some old "Evergreen" tubing offcuts to good use and have also become quite familiar with Hobbycraft's jewellery department!
The material for the strops came from the needlework department...
I must get round to purchasing some "proper section" chain from one of the model boat suppliers and also paint the hooks gloss black.
Although in passing I am now doubting the use of so many hooks in this set-up, I need to check my sources...
This is the same lifting rig that we hope to use, with longer strops, to lift HMS Surprise, that's if we get the contract!

Incidentally we had to call the Liebherr service engineer out because we noticed a leaky flange gasket on the pressure relief valve of number three cross-feed pump.
He has assured us that it is perfectly safe to continue using the crane until a spare gasket arrives.

Cheers,
Pete.
