They are busy getting ready for a public open day.
The yard measures out to a scale 334' X 116' at 1:50th and lives at one end of my bedroom!
It is not quite finished as I want to add some tasteful moulding along the edge of it and saw off the angled bit on the left to ease room entry.
The actual base of the yard is made from 12mm MDF covered with 5mm foam board sprayed and weathered with wax-powders, it will look better when it is finally glued down!
There is a shrubbery border all the way along the fence at the back but it cannot quite be made out in these photos.
I plan to build or acquire some "portacabin" offices and a couple of 40' containers to dress things up a bit.
I also have my eye on yet another crane for the fleet but as it costs mega-bucks I think it will be some time in coming, it's a 750 tonner!
This "diorama" could also serve as part of an airfield display or equally a farm equipment dealers yard.
Those of you who have been following my latest craze will notice a rather attractive new addition to the crane fleet, the Grove 5115 100t.
I will do a photo essay of her very soon.
Sorry for the shakey pictures, I need some chocolate!
Cheers,
Pete.
