HMS Victory Devonport Auckland

Post by mike57 » Mon Aug 04, 2014 1:06 am

Hi, I am currently finishing off a Mamoli Victory. I based my model on Longridges book anatomy of Nelsons Ships. I scratch built a lot of the parts including the rudder and the larger blocks, which are made from a slug of oak from the Victory. I am also building the Eaglemoss partworks Endeavour. I am not using the magazines at all and again I am scratching building most of the parts. I have been working on thne victory (off and on ) for 15 years I just need to add the gunport lid lifts to finish, and maybe make the rest of the ships boats.

Superb and sublime modelling Sir, a wonder to behold and as Dafi says she has a "nice look and feel".
(Another scratch-builder to add to the growing list)!
More please... x7x
Cheers,
Pete.

An impressive Victory Mike, first time I've seen an example of worming a line, except on anchor cables.

I have taken the liberty of moving your post to this section, don't want your excellent photo's being lost in the intro section.

Regards,

Maurice

Thankyou Pete, Maurice and everybody else for the likes, I appreciate your kind coments very much. I am just doing the gunport lids and some rope coils and she will be finished. I am going to loan her to the Devonport naval museum, as they don't have a model of Victory on display.
